Seniors Companion Program

At the Dr. Piper Center, our Senior Companions Volunteers are changing lives — one visit, one conversation, one act of kindness at a time.
These dedicated volunteers, all aged 55 and older, provide essential support to frail and isolated seniors across Southwest Florida. Whether it’s helping with daily tasks, solving everyday challenges, or simply offering a listening ear, Senior Companions bring comfort, dignity, and connection to those who need it most.
The impact is powerful:
-
Over 50 active companions
-
More than 65,000 hours of service are provided annually
-
Serving 1,200+ seniors in need of friendship and support
For our clients and companions alike, this program is about more than service — it’s about purpose, friendship, and living life to the fullest.
Volunteers commit to 20 hours per week and receive:
-
A modest, tax-free stipend
-
Mileage Reimbursement Program
-
Accident and liability insurance
Since 1993, the program has empowered over 400 volunteers to deliver more than 500,000 hours of compassionate care across Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Hendry, Glades, and Sarasota Counties.
