Faith in Action
Dr. Piper Center’s Faith in Action program serves older adults with a temporary or long-term transportation barrier. Access to safe, reliable transportation is vital for frail elders to maintain their health, get access to nutritious meals, and be socially active. The Faith in Action transportation program matches homebound older adults with senior volunteers who provide free rides to doctors, dentists, pharmacies, supermarkets and other vital locations.
Faith in Action volunteers set their own schedules. Our volunteer drivers are courteous, conversational, and punctual. When possible, volunteer drivers are matched with clients who live in the same ZIP code. Clients needing transportation can request the same volunteer each time, and the Dr. Piper Center will try to accommodate those requests.
Volunteer
Transportation is an important key to independence for seniors. Faith in Action is a senior transportation program that connects volunteer drivers to home-bound older adults who need rides to doctors, grocery stores, pharmacies, and other locations. This vital program provides independence, security, friendship and dignity for our clients.
Our Faith in Action volunteers are age 55 and older, and provide assistance when it fits in with their schedules. In addition to transportation, these volunteers provide visits and well-being checks to our frail clients.
