Granny Get Down

Volunteers are the heart of the services provided by the Dr. Piper Center.  Despite the potential health concerns from the pandemic over the last few years in the elderly community, our senior volunteers continued to have a strong presence in the workforce and are still active in our organization.  For that we believe that they must be celebrated while they are displaying their culinary talent at the fourth annual Granny Get-Down Cooked Food Competition.

It was President Ronald Reagan who, in 1998 when he declared August 21^st National Senior Citizens Day to raise awareness about issues that affect senior citizens and their quality of life, said, “For all they do and have achieved for the good of our communities, senior citizens deserve our THANKS.”
